So why northern lights tours?

In 2017, after relocating to the area, I stumbled upon the aurora one night while stargazing at a local beach. I managed to capture a rather poor photo with my phone, but it was unmistakably a shot of the northern lights, and I was in awe! This sparked my curiosity, leading me to research their formation and improve my photography skills. During my boat tours, I've frequently been asked about the northern lights, often engaging in extensive discussions about the best times and ways to witness this incredible phenomenon.

Since so many have inquired, I decided to create an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Predicting the Northern lights is tough - It is not an exact science.

  • They don't occur every night, or even every week.

  • They aren't always the same. They vary in strength and intensity.

  • Even the "experts" are off sometimes in their predictions.

All this being said, we can get a pretty good idea of when they will occur, but this is only fairly reliable 2-4 days in advance.

There are many resources we can use, including NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center. Learn how to use these resources and better understand how to predict the northern lights.
